Description
A rare period silver gelatin print, 14 x 11 in., depicting marchers on the morning of the March on Washington. Printed by the photographer within weeks of exposure and retained in the studio archive until 1991.
Historical context
Images of this march circulated first through the Black press before national wire services carried them. Period prints — as opposed to later estate printings — are the primary photographic record of the movement's visual language and are held almost entirely by institutions.
